What you give us

When you submit the consultation application form, we receive the four details you enter:

• Your name
• Your business email address
• Your company name
• Your telephone number

All four are required, so the form cannot be submitted without them. We ask for nothing else, and there is no other way to send us personal data through this website.

What is recorded alongside it

So that we can keep the form secure and investigate abuse of it, each submission is stored together with the date and time, the IP address it came from, your browser's user agent string, and the page that referred you, if your browser sent one. This is recorded only when you actually submit the form. We do not record it for people who merely read the page, and we never use it to build a profile of you.

Server logs

Like any web server, our hosting provider records standard technical logs for requests to the site, which can include IP addresses and the pages requested. These logs are generated and deleted on the provider's own schedule for operational security. We do not analyse them, and we do not use them for marketing.

Many websites do the following. This one does none of them:

• No cookies. This website sets no cookies of any kind on your device. That is why you are not asked to dismiss a cookie banner.
• No analytics. There is no Google Analytics or any equivalent measurement tool.
• No advertising or remarketing. There are no advertising pixels, conversion tags or retargeting scripts, so visiting this site will not cause you to be followed by our adverts elsewhere.
• No profiling or automated decision-making. No decision about you is made by a machine.
• No third-party content. Fonts and every other asset are served from our own domain, so reading this site causes your browser to contact no other company.
• No selling or sharing. We never sell personal data, and we never pass it to anyone else for their own marketing.

For people in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, the General Data Protection Regulation requires us to name a legal basis for each use. Ours are:

• Responding to your application

  We read what you submitted, reply to you by email or telephone, and arrange and hold the consultation you asked for.

  GDPR Art 6(1)(b) — steps taken at your request before entering into a contract.

• Keeping your details on file afterwards

  So that we can follow up about the services you enquired about, and continue a conversation you started. We contact you individually; we do not run bulk marketing campaigns from this website.

  GDPR Art 6(1)(f) — our legitimate interest in business development, weighed against your interests. You may object at any time and we will stop.

• The technical details stored with your submission

  To detect and investigate spam and abuse of the form, and to keep the site working safely.

  GDPR Art 6(1)(f) — our legitimate interest in the security and integrity of the service.

We keep the number of systems touching your data deliberately small:

• Vercel Inc. hosts this website and stores the form submissions for us, in a private store located in Frankfurt, Germany. Vercel processes the data only on our instructions.
• Microsoft Corporation provides our business email. If we correspond with you, that correspondence sits in our mailbox.
• Our own people, on a need-to-know basis, in order to reply to you.

We do not use a third-party email marketing platform, a customer data platform, or an advertising network in connection with this website.

Form submissions are stored on servers in Frankfurt, Germany, within the European Union. We are, however, established in the United Arab Emirates, and we access that data from there in order to reply to you.

For people in the EEA or the UK, that access is a transfer to a country without an adequacy decision. It takes place because it is necessary in order to take the steps you asked us to take before entering into a contract, and to perform that contract, as permitted by Article 49(1)(b) GDPR. In practice this simply means that the person who reads your enquiry and calls you back is sitting outside the EU.

We keep a consultation application for 24 months after our last meaningful contact with you, and then delete it. The technical details recorded with a submission are deleted at the same time as the submission itself.

If you become a client, we keep your data for as long as we work together, and afterwards for as long as we are required to retain business records.

You can ask us to delete your data sooner than this at any time, and we will, unless we are legally required to keep it.

If you are in the EEA or the UK, you have the right to:

• ask whether we hold personal data about you, and receive a copy of it
• have inaccurate data corrected
• have your data erased
• ask us to restrict how we use it
• object to our use of it where we rely on legitimate interests, including for business development
• receive the data you gave us in a portable, machine-readable format
• withdraw consent, in the cases where we relied on it

To exercise any of these, email marton@blackholemedia.eu. We will respond within one month, and there is no charge. We may ask you to confirm your identity so that we do not disclose your data to someone else.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your request, you may lodge a complaint with the data protection supervisory authority in your country of residence or workplace.

The site is served only over an encrypted connection, so what you type into the form is encrypted in transit. Submissions are written to a private store that is not publicly reachable, and reading them requires a password. Access is limited to the people who need it in order to reply to you.

No system is perfectly secure, but we reduce the risk by holding as little data as possible, in as few places as possible, for as short a time as is useful.

This website is aimed at businesses. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under the age of 16.

If we change how we handle personal data, we will update this page and revise the date at the top. Where a change is significant, we will say so plainly rather than quietly editing the text.
